“The Steps That Shouldn’t Echo”

πŸ•―️ Introduction

Some sounds guide you.
Others… drag you where your scream won’t return.

In the old quarter of the city, there’s a crumbling mansion everyone calls “The Silent Roof.”
But the roof isn’t silent.
It echoes.

With footsteps.

🏚️ The House No One Claims

No one knows who built it.
The front door never locks.
The windows are sealed from the inside, yet they sway… like someone’s moving behind them.

People say, if you enter the house, your own footsteps turn against you.
They lead you the wrong way.
They take you… down.

πŸ‘£ The Boy Who Followed the Sound

Twelve-year-old Adil was the bravest in his street.
One evening, he made a bet:
“I’ll stay inside for five minutes and bring back a video.”

The phone was later found.
At first, you only hear footsteps.
Then his voice:
“That’s not me walking… someone else is here… but I’m alone…”

And finally—his last words:
“I was upstairs… how am I going down…?”

Then just a scream.
And silence.

πŸͺ¦ The Basement That Changes

Nobody entered after that.
But days later, a repairman was fixing the walls when he stopped and whispered:

“These stairs… weren’t here yesterday.”
They led downward.
And with each step, the light faded more and more…

By sunset, the repairman was gone.
Only one shoe was found.
Resting on the bottom step.

πŸ•³️ What Locals Believe

Locals say the house breathes.
And those who begin breathing with it… lose their own rhythm.
Their own steps.

They say if you ever hear someone walking behind you—
and you’re sure you’re alone—
Don’t stop.
Don’t turn.

Because the thing behind you…
is already wearing your footsteps.

πŸ•―️ One Final Whisper

If you ever hear slow, dragging footsteps in your house at night—
Lock the doors.
Close your ears.
Hold your breath.

And remember…

The steps that aren’t yours… always lead down.
